The Humboldt Bay Harbor District's Community Advisory Committee for the Offshore Wind Heavy Lift Marine Terminal Project is hosting a public meeting with technical speakers, a panel of experts, and multiple stations at which participants can talk to engineers and environmental scientists that are designing/permitting the project. It will be a good opportunity to learn more about what is being proposed, and to think about the impacts that should be analyzed, how those impacts can best be minimized or mitigated, and project alternatives that could lessen these impacts. When: Wednesday, June 24, 5:30-7:30 pm Where: Arcata Community Center (321 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway) In August, the Harbor District is planning to release a new, updated Notice of Preparation (NOP) announcing the agency's intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The NOP will trigger a 30-day public review and comment period on what issues should be analyzed in the Draft EIR. Issues can include potential impacts that need to be studied, as well as mitigation measures and alternatives that should be considered. The District intends to release the Draft EIR by April 2027.Humboldt Waterkeeper has been studying the proposed project and its potential impacts for several years, and will continue to do our best to inform and engage our members and the public.
