The Republican-dominated House of Representatives is waging an all-out war on the Clean Water Act of 1972, which called for swimmable, drinkable, fishable streams by 1985. Fight back by demanding clean water for all Americans -  write your elected officials today!

The "Dead Salmon" Act - Pending in the U.S. Senate

S 1369, would exempt logging road sediment from the Clean Water Act, threatening water quality and salmon habitat, further undermining declining salmon populations. 


The "Dirty Water" Act: Passed by the U.S. House of Representatives
HR 2018 would strip the Environmental Protection Agency of its power to oversee Clean Water Act permits. This bill was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on July 14th and it awaits action by the Senate. Congressman Thompson voted NO

The "Drinking Pesticides" Act: Passed by the U.S. House of Representatives
HR 872 would exempt industrial pesticide applications in and around public waterways from the Clean Water Act. The U.S. House of Representatives approved this bill on March 31, 2011. It awaits action by the Senate. Congressman Thompson voted YES
